At first glance, JustAnswer would seem like an inexpensive way to get your questions answered by knowledgeable people and those who are considered to be experts in their field.
The experts would provide sound advice in exchange for a small percentage of the fees charged by JustAnswer.
Unfortunately, with so many complaints lodged against them and tons of negative reviews post all over the Internet, you might be thinking, is JustAnswer Legit?
So, let’s dive into the world of JustAnswer and know whether it’s safe, trustworthy, or a scam and much more.
Is JustAnswer Legit?
JustAnswer is a legitimate online question and answer website. It is true that experts are there to answer customer’s questions. However, there is a dark side to the business and that is they have a bad reputation for shady billing practices and their customer service is not very helpful.
It has been in business for more than 17 years and it is Better Business Bureau accredited as well since 2006.
However, according to the BBB, they have received more than 1000 complaints against JustAnswer for a wide range of issues.
JustAnswer Misleading Billing Complaints
I realize that finding complaints about a company that has been in business for 17 years is not really that hard to do, but the fact that the Better Business Bureau has logged more than 1000 complaints from customers of JustAnswer.
It should be enough to raise a “red flag.” but again, sometimes customer expectations can play a role in the problem.
Here’s the quick stats of the JustAnswer complaints.
As you can see, the most common complaints are of misleading billing payment, cancellation of account and difficulties in getting refunds.
Analyzing many of the complaints and other online reviews may just show that it is likely that there is a definite pattern to the issues that have been brought up.
Far too many feel that they were deceived by the premise that they would be paying $1 to $5 to get an answer to their questions.
Unfortunately, the answers they got were not satisfactory and when they went to request a refund, they got the runaround from customer service.
Then came the bogus charges on their credit cards after agreeing to sign up for a membership. Finally, there were too many unacceptable up-sell offers.
JustAnswer Customer Service
JustAnswer set up its customer service center to help support all of the members of its website. If they have any questions about the site, services, and any other questions.
They made it extremely easy for everyone to contact JustAnswer customer service using one of three ways to contact them. You can either contact them using contact us button when you’re logged in or contact via chat or email.
JustAnswer has a customer support staff set up to field the calls coming in from customers that have questions or issues to report regarding their interaction with the JustAnswer website and service.
While it is good that they set it up, unfortunately, according to a large number of current and former customers, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
Based on my personal experience, most people are not satisfied with their customer service.
Some of the complaints centered around complaints that the person on the phone was unwilling to be helpful, which included refusal to escalate a call to a supervisor.
Is Personal Data Safe on JustAnswer?
It would be hard to believe that anyone could think that their personal data was very safe.
Considering the overwhelming majority of the claims made with the BBB is that JustAnswer would make fraudulent charges on their credit card after they paid for their monthly membership.
I did not find any reason to say for sure that using JustAnswer poses any kind of danger to your personal data using the website.
While no one claimed that they felt insecure about their data, it would not be a stretch to think it.
Is JustAnswer Free?
JustAnswer is not free, as a member of the website who is looking to have your questions answered will have to put up a certain amount of money to ask a question to be answered by a professional. The exact amount will vary, and it will depend on the profession and complexity of the question.
The system was designed to help professionals make some extra money on the side using their vast professional knowledge to help others find important answers.
The money that you pay goes partially to the professional who answers your question and the rest goes to JustAnswer.
Besides that, JustAnswer offers a monthly subscription as well which entitles you to ask an unlimited amount of questions.
How Much Does JustAnswer Cost?
JustAnswer cost depends on how many questions you ask or you can either choose a monthly membership plan for few or unlimited questions, depending on the plan. There’s not exact cost for each question because it depends on the profession. However, the monthly membership fee begins at $18 and goes up to $47, depending on the profession.
Here’s the three membership plans offer by JustAnswer.
Just like most membership sites, JustAnswer also offers you a 7-day trial so you can test out the membership but the trial isn’t completely free, it cost between $1 to $5.
Please keep in mind, if you’re not satisfied with the membership then you’ve to cancel the trial before the trial expiration date to avoid any unwanted surprises.

Is JustAnswer Worth It?
It depends on who you talk to, the questions you’re asking, and the customer support of JustAnswer. So, maybe for the first time there is a competent expert available to answer your question while for the second time, you didn’t get satisfactory answer from another expert.
Unfortunately my personal experiences aside, what I found is that most people were not satisfied with the answers they received.
Overall, I recommend you to avoid JustAnswer at all costs.
It’s not because they’re fraudulent, or not legitimate platform but because they have misleading billing tactics and poor customer service which makes it more trouble than its worth.
Is JustAnswer legit, it’s a very complex question. The premise behind the website is actually legit and many former members of the site have reported the founder of the website, but some questionable things.
Many of them center around claims of fraudulent charges appearing on their credit cards and the site dragging their feet when they were asked to refund the money.
Now, to be fair, countless other people have great things to say about JustAnswer.
If you like the idea of having a place online that you can go to and get the answer to your questions on several topics, each of the professionals that are part of the JustAnswer network has been pre-screened before they can answer questions in their given specialty.
So, as an impartial observer, I would say if you want to try it out, keep your eye wide open and keep an eye on your credit card statement.
